According to MTV IGGY, the 10 Biggest Music Festivals in the World last year were:
- DONAUINSELFEST (VIENNA, AUSTRIA)
- MAWAZINE (RABAT, MOROCCO)
- SUMMERFEST (WISCONSIN, USA)
- COACHELLA (CALIFORNIA, USA)
- ROCK IN RIO (RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL)
- PRZYSTANEK WOODSTOCK (KOSTRZYN NAD ODRA, POLAND)
- SZIGET (BUDAPEST, HUNGARY)
- ULTRA (MIAMI, USA)
- PALEO (NYON, SWITZERLAND)
- EXIT (NOVI SAD, SERBIA)
Sadly, the list does not have anything from Asia – even though the creative music industry here is booming. Asian music festivals are definitely getting “crazier” and more original, including the likes ofMidi Festival in China, Clockenflap in Hong Kong, ZoukOut in Singapore, Future Music Festival in Australia, Summer Sonic Festival in Japan and Spring Scream in Taiwan. Some of my friends just got back from Spring Scream, which takes place in early April each year on the beautiful beaches of Kenting (in southern Taiwan), a place which is known for its perennial good weather.
However, the weather wasn’t particularly good this year; there was only one sunny day! Luckily, when I went to Kenting a while ago, the weather was perfectly charming, although the festival hadn’t started yet. If you are a keen surfer, want to meet hot girls in bikinis and drink a lot while dancing to some local and foreign bands on a beach, you should definitely go to Kenting for Spring Scream!
However, if you just want to have a chilled, relaxed time in a small town next to the ocean, then you might want to check out this place I stayed at in Kenting for a more private stay – The House 15. There are a total of six private villas built on The House 15′s 6,200,000 square foot area, so each villa has a sizeable space to itself. Four villas are designed for sharing between two people, whilst the other two villas can accommodate up to 4 guests.
From the interior to the exterior, and the furniture to the amenities, The House 15 villas have a subtle, special wow factor. Everything is modern and comfortable but in sync with its natural surroundings.
The swimming pools are shaped like a boat, and are filled with actual sea water from Kenting! You could easily spend a whole day without leaving your villa – and if you have any other requirements, your designated butler (you meet him or her at arrival) is there to fulfil your every need.
If you do want to go out and explore the town, you would need to hire a car or taxi; the drive into town takes around 15 minutes. My suggestion would be to visit the town when you first reach Kenting, buy whatever you need there and then head to The House 15 for the rest of your trip!
Stay there, sit back and enjoy peace of mind, a great view and personal service that comes with a genuine smile.
