Sustainable fashion, also known as eco fashion is something most of us weren’t really paying much of attention to 10 years ago.
However, nowadays you can’t really establish yourself as a fashion lover if you don’t own a piece of eco-fashion clothing.
What do you think of when you read the term ‘Sustainable Fashion’? Wearing second-hand or recycled fabric made-clothes?
Hmmm…have you been living in a cave? Sustainable fashion is part of the larger trend of sustainable design where a product is created and produced with consideration to the environmental and social impact it may have throughout its total life span, including its “carbon footprint”.
Stella McCartney is someone whose name must get engraved in the book of eco fashion. Being a vegetarian and an environmentally conscious forward thinking designer, she was among the first few designers who introduced and led the wave of designing and making garments in the eco-conscious way.
Another person, who caught everyone’s attention by wearing a sustainably made red carpet gown to the Oscars this year, is Meryl Streep. Her glamorous gold gown was designed and made by Parisian high fashion brand, Lanvin.
環保、可持續時尚（Eco Friendly Fashion） 從開始的無人問詢，到現在成為時尚界的熱門詞彙，確實經歷了一些艱難。
從前，大家說到環保時尚，可能直接會聯想到回收舊服飾再利用，或者不是非常吸引人的設計。但現在，它已經是一種生活態度的代名詞；有點似“有機食品”予人的感覺。
而設計、或穿著環保時尚的人，多數為有個性並且有格調的。比如，最早帶領高級時尚進入環保時代的 Stella McCartney。她一貫拒絕使用動物皮革，以有機棉、有機絲、有機皮料等製作環保（製作過程中不會或只會產生少量污染）服飾。
今年最讓人記憶深刻的環保時裝，則是由 Lanvin 製作，梅莉史翠普身著；行走在奧斯卡典禮上的一襲金色晚禮服。

Every brand is tapping into the sustainable fashion market, from high street brands like H&M, Esprit to luxury fashion houses – Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry Prorsum, Veneta Bottega and more.
H&M started using organic cotton since 2004, and produced its first collection of clothes that were made with 100% organic cotton in 2007. The brand even dedicated one season of its window display to its sustainably made clothes in 2011. Furthermore, H&M is said to introduce its in-store recycle program to collect unwanted clothes from anyone and any brands. In return, donators will receive an H&M discount coupon. It’s definitely a leader in the fast fashion market.
While high street brands are moving fast in making everything sustainable, luxury fashion groups are also marching forward. Gucci has introduced organic canvas for making its handbags; Veneta Bottega is not using any chemicals to its leather products. Louis Vuitton and Burberry Prorsum have made so many changes and improvements in their daily business running to ensure maximum energy saving in the most sustainable ways.
隨著這股“越時尚越環保”的風潮的高起，高街（high street) 與高級時尚（high fashion）品牌都發佈了不同的環保時裝系列。
H&M自2004年開始使用有機棉，在2007年生產出第一批100％的有機棉服裝。這些服裝都有特製的吊牌，讓顧客可以自己做選擇。2011年，H&M有一季度的門店櫥窗就著重展示了其以“白淨”為主題的環保服裝系列。不知道有多少人也和我一樣，有購入這些設計簡單，價格平易近人的環保時裝呢？！（據說2013年，H&M會在其全球店內開展服飾回收再造，而回收的服飾竟然不需要是來自H&M的。同時，顧客可以獲得一定價值的折扣券。）

Hopefully, we will have more sustainable fashion designers and will live in a sustainable way in every aspect of our life.
