Where do you get your hair done in Hong Kong? This is one question I always get asked…but could never answer.
I was very experimental with my hair in my teens: perming, coloring and any new technique that became available every 3 months.
It was fun, but the damage was not. Hence, I stopped doing anything to my hair.
I decided to have my hair cut really short and let it be “reborn.” I’d go for a trim in either Shanghai or London, depending on my travel schedule, and only visit hairstylists I knew very well. Expensive hair salons or hair stylists don’t necessarily mean they are good, I once paid USD1,000 for a haircut by a top celebrity hair stylist and it was just…ordinary.
Yet, it’s impossible to believe that there are no great hair salons or hairstylists in Hong Kong; so as a proud brave professional beauty lab rat, I continued to seek for the answers to the ultimate question: Where to get one’s hair done in Hong Kong?
And, let’s see if the answer can be found @ Marek Art of Hair
香港哪個髮型屋好？－－－這是一個我一直會被問到的問題。
在我青少年時期，我很喜歡在我的頭髮上做實驗，每3個月就會去染髮、燙髮或嘗試新出現的和髮有關的技術／產品。
我覺得那樣很有趣，但對頭髮，可就不那麼有趣了。
所以，某日我就去把長髮剪成了短髮，給它個機會“重生！” 頭髮慢慢恢復健康並長長，我會時不時的在我回到上海或者倫敦的時候找相熟的髮型師修一下頭髮。昂貴的髮型屋，標價昂貴的髮型師不代表出品就一定好，我曾經付過1,000美金給一個頂級的明星髮型師為我剪頭髮，但出來的效果也就是那樣。
但我不相信在香港就找不到好的hair salon了！作為一個自豪勇敢並專業的beauty白老鼠，我繼續尋找… …
究竟，這次找到的 Marek Art of Hair 會不會是那“終極答案”呢？！

站在Marek外就已經不難看出這個髮型屋與藝術設計的關聯，而踏入屋內後，更可以在那擺設成列中感受到其細膩微妙的藝術氛圍。
在確定去任何hair salon之前，我都建議大家儘量瞭解關於這個salon的種種。比較重要的是各個髮型師的技術、收費情況和髮後服務。
關於Marek Art of Hair, 我在去之前也是做了功課的：

My tall, handsome and friendly hair stylist of the day: Keith Lau 我的主理髮型師
After consultation, I decided to do a hair coloring = HKD790, and a hair treatment = HKD630.
But before that, they did a scalp check on me (complimentary) to understand my hair and scalp condition better.
(I was very excited, wowwww…with indicators!!! What more can a lab rat ask for!)
在和我的髮型師討論咨詢過後，我決定染髮（790港幣）＋護髮 （630港幣）。
但在那之前，我做了一個由Marek免費提供的頭皮測試，讓我和髮型師進一步瞭解我的頭髮頭皮狀況。也幫助之後我和髮型師選擇正確的染髮、護髮產品來使用。
（看到測試啊，變色紙我就很興奮！哈哈，我真是合格的小白鼠。）
Keith used disposable testing paper and special Ph water to check if my scalp is healthy – CHECK (a healthy scalp is the very foundation of healthy hair)!
Then he used different testing paper to check my dryness and dandruff condition, each was tested twice on different parts of my scalp. Turns out my scalp is a little dry, but dandruff condition is within normal range. Keith also asked me when was the last time I washed my hair as he needs to take that into account and make the right observations.
It was an interesting scalp-check, very professional and educational. Next, off to coloring; meet my technician of the day: Eric Choi (left) and his assistant.
(We were having such a good time laughing and talking, but I don’t really remember what we talked about…isn’t this the best? I always prefer to have light funny conversation while getting my hair fixed, no politics please…)
我的髮型師Keith使用了3種不同的一次性測試紙來檢查我的頭皮酸鹼平衡度、干油和頭屑情況。
檢查結果：
酸鹼平衡度－正常！
干油度－稍干！
頭屑－正常！
每次測試都會在頭皮的不同地方做多一次，以確保測試結果的準確性。也會按照之前一次洗髮時間推算出不同的測試結果。感覺這個測試非常專業，有學習到知識，也很好玩！接下去，就進入主題了：染髮＋護髮！
看我們笑的多開心，為什麼會笑那麼開心呢？！你去了就知道了。那裡的工作人員都很友善，也很有趣，是個快樂的髮型屋。

TA-DA! For the first time in my life, I dyed my hair purple!
I was in doubt when Keith recommended me to try purple, but he said purple hair would provide me with a healthy glow (he also recommended red, but I wanted to be more adventurous). And it’s true! Hmmm…so I guess he didn’t lie about his experience working as a theatrical hairstylist and image consultant then (just kidding, haha).
Everything turned out to be great! Hair coloring and hair treatment were finished in 2 hours, leaving me with a superb new color with extra shine! (No color stain on my skin since they applied protection cream pre-coloring.)
I wasn’t leaving without getting some of the exclusive hair products at Marek, especially without the ridiculous price mark-up.
Now, writing this 3 weeks after my visit to Marek Art of Hair, I am happy to let you know that my hair is still silky smooth and have a perfect answer to that question: “Where is the place to go for hair?”

完成！我人生的第一次，頭髮成紫色！
一開始我還有點懷疑紫色會不會很怪，Keith髮型師推薦說紫色襯我的膚色白皙而氣色更好。而另一個顏色是紅色，但因為我想挑戰，就選擇了紫色。不過完成後發現，紫色真的還挺不錯的，素顏卻有了白裡透紅的好氣色。看來，Keith沒有騙我，他真的有形象打造的功底，哈哈。
染髮、護髮一起在2小時之內就完成了，如果你是急性子，也不用怕！看看成果：光澤亮麗的健康秀髮！開心！（而且也沒有顏色殘留在皮膚上，因為在染髮前給上了保護霜。）
最後，我絕對不會就這樣2手空空的走的，乘此機會必須購入店內獨家代理、卻價格公道的護髮產品才滿足。
我現在寫這篇博文已經是距離染髮3星期了，而現在髮質還是和離開Marek一樣那麼順滑亮澤！下次再有人問我該去哪間hair salon, 我至少有了一個滿意的答案：Marek Art of Hair。
