Marie Claire Hong Kong interviewed me for the special report in their December issue, which is out now!
They interviewed different women who are heavily engaged with photography, and asked me for my opinion about taking SELFIES.
For me, selfies are a way to record my life, so I prefer to call them “visual diaries”. I explained to Marie Claire that although I take selfies everyday to have a record of things myself, I don’t actually post everything online (maybe only 10-20%) as I still like to keep a fine line between what is public and private.
I don’t like seeing people staring at their phones while they are in the company of others; I find it very disrespectful and it kills the purpose of having a REAL conversation or engaging with others. My philosophy is to take a selfie with your loved ones while you are together, but then do the sharing later in the day.
Of course, I got my hands on a selfie stick as soon as it came out; I like to use it with my iPhone fisheye lens to take a wide angle image of me and my surroundings. However, a good “proper” camera is still my number one choice when it comes to shooting for my blog!
